Allergies caused by dirty carpets

In the average home over two million dust mites feed on dead skin, scales and other debris and  hide in your carpet, upholstery & rugs. Microscopic mite feces and corpses are so small that they blow up into the air as you walk around your house, and they get into your lungs.

80% of people who suffer from allergies are allergic to airborne mite refuse. To help limit their effect on your health, it is advisable to clean your carpets and furniture more often.

What machines do you use?

All our technicians are currently equipped with the Craftex Grace 5020 carpet cleaning machine, which combines dual 3-stage vacuum power with a 130 psi Shurflo by-pass type pump.

Why should I get my carpets cleaned?

Carpets absorb all sorts of nasty things including chemical contamination, outdoor pollutants, pesticides, bio contaminants, allergens, volatile organic compounds, combustion products, asbestos, dust mites, bacteria, grease and oil deposits, sand, soil and food particles.

Regular carpet cleaning will help to remove these contaminants leading to a healthier element for you and your family.

How often should my carpets be cleaned?

For people with allergies or breathing-related conditions such as asthma, doctors recommend carpets, upholstery and curtains be professionally cleaned every 3 to 6 months.

For general carpet cleaning on an average use residential carpet, we suggest cleaning every 12 months.

How do you take payment?

We can take cash or cheque on the day or you can make a bank transfer once the job is done.

Are you insured?

Yes, Apex Cleaning Services has £1,000,000 Public Liability Insurance.

What is your cancellation policy?

If cancelling with less then 24 hours notice we do reserve the right to charge full price.

Do Apex Cleaning Services move the furniture?

We can move certain items of furniture, but are limited due to health and safety legislation. As such, if you have any items of furniture that you definitely need moved, it is best to do this prior to our arrival.

What should I do before you arrive?

It would be very helpful if prior to arrival you can remove items on the floor from areas to be cleaned e.g. shoes, toys etc. Also, if you have valuable items on any pieces of furniture that will require moving, could you please move these to a safe location. Because of the weight limit to what can be moved by our carpet cleaners, please move any heavily items.

What is Stain Protector/Scotchgard?

As an option we can apply a protective coating to your carpet, which adds a moisture-resistant barrier to each individual fibre. This barrier means that spills aren't immediately absorbed into the carpet and gives you an extra period of time to clean it up.

Additionally, this protective coating on your carpet helps reduce the wear and abrasion caused by soil in the carpet and protects it from excessive matting, which in turn will cause your carpet to perform better.

What is Carpet Conditioner?

As an option we can apply a carpet conditioner to your carpet, which helps to loosen up matted fibres and crushed piles. The result of this is that dirt it less likely to become trapped in the carpet and will be more easily removed through vacuuming.

Is Stain Protector and Carpet Conditioner included in the price?

Unless specifically requested, the price quoted will be for deep cleaning and would not include any carpet maintenance treatments. This can be taken as optional extras on the day.

How long will my carpet take to dry?

Drying time will vary depending on the thickness of your carpet, weather conditions and air circulation in your home. Normally your carpets will be dry in 4 to 12 hours, but in some instances can take up to 24-48 hours.

What do you use for stain treatments?

All our technicians carry a wide variety of different solutions that can help them tackle even the most tricky of stains. Some of those we use include:

Stain Pro - For use on blood, vomit, ink, and general food and drink

Multi Pro and Trafficlean - Sprayed on to carpet to help release soil from the pile, thus making it easier for us to extract.

Coffee Stain Removed- For the removal of coffee stains, tea, beer, tannin, water marks and other yellow and brown discolorations

Clensan - Good for yogurt and milk.

Citrus Gel - For oil based stains, grease, tar, gum and other oily spots

Solvent Spotter - Good on make up, ink, paint etc. (Cannot be used on carpet tiles with bitumen backing due to it reacting with the bitumen)

Filter Out - For draught lines near doors and walls

Red RX - For food and drink with red dye as well as carbonated drinks, fruit juices and wine stains

Rust Remover - For the Removal of rust stains

Urine Neutraliser - Neutralises odor from urine deposits on contact and prevents staining

Please note that due to variables such as type of carpet, age of the stain etc, we cannot guarantee being able to remove all stains.

When I have my upholstery cleaned, how long do I have to leave my cushions propped?

Cushions are left propped in order to aid the drying process and should be left in place until completely dry.
